Sibiga called on the EU not to lift sanctions against Usmanov and Friedman
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga called on the European Union not to ease sanctions pressure on Russia and not to remove Russian oligarchs Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the sanctions lists.
According to Sibiga, lifting restrictions on these businessmen would send the wrong signal to Moscow. He stressed that, on the contrary, sanctions pressure must be intensified.

“Usmanov and Friedman were added to the sanctions list because they are part of the aggressive Russian regime waging a war of aggression against Ukraine. What has changed? Nothing.
Removing them from the list is unacceptable and would send the wrong signal to Moscow at a time when pressure needs to be intensified,” he emphasized.
According to Sibiga, sanctions must be tightened, the lists of individuals targeted expanded, and the duration of the sanctions extended from six to twelve months—“to minimize counterproductive ideas aimed at serving the interests of Russian oligarchs.”
