The son of Norway's Crown Princess has been sentenced to four years in prison
The son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Høyboe, was found guilty of a series of serious crimes, including rape and domestic violence, and sentenced to four years in prison. The court also took into account other incidents from the criminal proceedings that were part of the case.
"The son of Norway's Crown Princess was sentenced to four years in prison after being found guilty on two counts of rape, an Oslo court ruled on Monday," the report states.
It is noted that Hoiby himself did not admit guilt to the rape charges and may appeal the court’s verdict.
Hoiby faced 40 charges carrying a maximum sentence of 16 years in prison, the publication reports.
He was also convicted of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend, threats, and traffic violations, and was acquitted on two other counts of rape.
The seven-week trial attracted the attention of the Norwegian media and included details about Hoiby’s drug addiction, videos of his sexual encounters that he filmed himself, as well as more than 800 messages that were included in the evidence, DW reports.
