Yair, the eldest son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was, according to media reports, the target of a suspected Iranian assassination attempt while living in Florida. Israeli intelligence allegedly uncovered the plot as early as December 2025, after which Yair was ordered to leave the U.S. immediately and return to Israel.
Netanyahu spoke on Monday during an interview about the uncovering of a plot to assassinate one of his children, but refused to say which of his two sons—Yair or Avner—was the target.
“There is something incredible here. Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran tried to kill him; it tried to kill one of my sons,” the prime minister said.
According to a source in U.S. law enforcement, it has been revealed that the target was Yair Netanyahu, the prime minister’s 35-year-old eldest son, who lived on Hallandale Beach, near Miami.
According to the publication’s source, Israeli intelligence learned last December of an Iranian plot to assassinate Yair in Florida and alerted U.S. authorities.
The source added that Iranian operatives were believed to have already been “on the ground” in the Miami area, monitoring Yair’s residence and movements. The prime minister’s son, who is constantly accompanied by Israeli security, was forced to leave the city immediately.
It is noted that Yair, without taking his belongings, suddenly returned to Israel, where he currently resides.
The report also states that Netanyahu disclosed information about the assassination attempt while defending the expanded government security detail assigned to his family.
“That is why these security measures are not a luxury,” Netanyahu said, warning that without proper protection, those targeting his family “could succeed.”
Netanyahu has two sons, Yair and Avner. Avner lives in Israel, while Yair has spent a significant amount of time in the Miami area and has become a well-known conservative political commentator and defender of his father in the West.
