Slovakia has received its first battery of the Israeli Barak MX air defense system

Slovakia has received its first battery of the Israeli Barak MX air defense system.

This was announced by Defense Minister Robert Kalinak, source: Info.sk.

According to him, the system has already been deployed and is gradually being put into operation. It is designed to protect critical infrastructure, particularly nuclear power plants.

The exact location of the battery is not being disclosed for security reasons, but it is noted that it is located near key energy facilities.

Integrating the system into the Slovak Armed Forces will take several weeks and will be carried out with the participation of Israeli specialists.

In total, the country plans to acquire six Barak MX batteries by 2030 under a $582 million contract.

On April 16, the Slovak side will hand over to Czech law enforcement a U.S. citizen accused of involvement in sabotage at the LPP Holding facility in Pardubice.

Bratislava is ready to block new sanctions against Russia until oil flows through the Druzhba pipeline, but will not stand in the way of a €90 billion loan to Ukraine.
