“Shameful”: Tusk reacts to Szijjártó’s contacts with Moscow

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reacted sharply to statements by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó regarding contacts with Moscow concerning closed-door negotiations among EU leaders.

In a post on social media platform X, Tusk called such actions “shameful,” commenting on reports that the Hungarian diplomat allegedly passed on to Moscow details of discussions that took place behind closed doors.

In turn, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski also reacted to Szijjártó’s statement, rhetorically asking if this was “fake news.”

Earlier, the Hungarian foreign minister confirmed that he maintains regular contact with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during closed-door EU meetings on foreign policy.
