US envoy Barrack says Israel did not warn US about strikes in Syria
US Ambassador to Turkey and US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack said that Israel did not give Washington proper advance notice before strikes on the Abu Duhur military base in northern Syria. Israeli officials denied the statement. This was reported by Al Jazeera English.
The US envoy's position
In an interview on Friday, Barrack called the Israeli strikes an unnecessary escalation. According to him, the attack on Abu Duhur could have been an attempt to provoke Turkey, which has significant influence in the region.
In recent months, Israel has stepped up threats against Turkey, viewing it as a potential rival seeking to expand its regional influence. For its part, Turkey described Israel's strikes as reckless.

Israel's response
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on social media that before Tuesday's strike, the Israeli side had passed intelligence information to authorized representatives in the United States. He also criticized Barrack's statements, calling them inaccurate and contrary to US President Donald Trump's position on the Golan Heights.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained the strikes by concerns that Turkey was preparing to deploy troops in the Abu Duhur area and had ignored warnings. Turkey rejected these accusations, while Barrack said that the United States had concluded that the claimed military activity at the base had not taken place.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani said on Wednesday that Damascus had informed Israel that there were no plans to establish a Turkish military base in Abu Duhur. According to him, Turkish military officers visited the site as part of cooperation on training and the exchange of experience.
