A tragic plane crash occurred near the town of La Bolle in France, killing two people. 

Among the victims was renowned entrepreneur Claude Guimaud, who was a co-founder of Ubisoft and the owner of the aircraft.

The tragedy occurred on the afternoon of June 19 near the local La Bolle airport. The aircraft crashed in the middle of a field and immediately burst into flames.

According to emergency responders who arrived at the scene, “the aircraft was engulfed in flames, and the fire spread to the surrounding vegetation.” 

Rescue workers made every effort to extinguish the fire, but unfortunately, they were unable to save the passengers.

The mayor of La Bol officially confirmed that a twin-engine Cessna 421 propeller plane had crashed. The eight-seat aircraft had departed from Rennes and was en route to its destination, but the journey ended in tragedy.

Among the two victims was 69-year-old Claude Guimaud, known in the tech world as one of the pioneers of the gaming industry. 

In 1986, he and his four brothers founded Ubisoft, which later became one of the world’s leading video game developers and publishers.

Ubisoft released an official statement expressing its condolences for this irreparable loss. 

The statement reads: “It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Claude Guillemot, co-founder of Ubisoft and president of Guillemot Corporation. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
