U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited the Armenian capital, concluding with the signing of a Charter on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, as well as a series of related agreements covering the economy, resources, and international development projects in the region. Rubio announced this on social media platform X, noting that the agreements were reached during a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
Separately, the parties signed framework agreements on cooperation in the field of critical minerals and rare earth metals, as well as a document establishing an initiative titled “Trump’s Path to International Peace and Prosperity.” “Today in Yerevan, together with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, we announced a bilateral framework agreement on the ‘Trump’s Road to International Peace and Prosperity’ (TRIPP) and signed a Strategic Partnership Charter, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding on critical minerals,” Rubio wrote.
According to him, the new agreements are intended to facilitate the implementation of the agreements reached during the peace summit between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which took place with U.S. participation.
The parties also discussed the broader peace process in the region and upcoming political developments in Armenia, particularly the election season. “We also discussed the peace process and the upcoming elections in Armenia,” the U.S. Secretary of State added.
The signed documents effectively establish a new framework for cooperation between Washington and Yerevan, covering both security issues and strategic economic interests, including access to critical resources and the development of regional projects.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga called Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statements during a conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding intentions to attack Kyiv a brazen provocation and yet another confirmation of Moscow’s interest in prolonging the war and escalating tensions.
Negotiations between the U.S. and Iran on a new agreement are dragging on due to disagreements over the wording of the document. This was stated by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, commenting on the progress of diplomatic consultations.
