The U.S. has presented Iran with a 15-point plan to end the war in the Middle East
U.S. officials have conveyed a 15-point plan to Iran via Pakistan, intended to help end the war in the Middle East. The plan addresses key issues, including Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs.
The New York Times reported this, citing informed sources.
During the airstrikes against Iran that began on February 28, Israel and the U.S. targeted launch sites, production facilities, and components of Iran’s nuclear program. U.S. and Israeli leaders have emphasized that they will not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons.
Despite this, Iran continues to fire missiles at Israel and neighboring Arab countries and possesses 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium on its territory.
The plan also addresses shipping routes for tankers. Since the start of the war, Iran has effectively blocked most Western vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to reduced oil and gas supplies and rising prices on global markets.
Iran may delay its response to the U.S. plan due to internal communication issues and concerns that Israel could target senior officials during face-to-face meetings.
Axios reported on March 24, 2026, that the U.S., together with Middle Eastern countries, is discussing the possibility of high-level peace talks with Iran. Washington has already sent Tehran a 15-point draft agreement, which is largely based on previous agreements reached in Geneva.
