The U.S. has stated that Iran has been significantly weakened following the conflict with the U.S.
U.S. Central Command stated that Iran has been significantly weakened following the conflict with the United States and is no longer capable of operating with its former military might. Officials in Washington assert that the strikes on Tehran’s infrastructure and allies will have long-term consequences, Al Arabiya reports.
Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), stated that the U.S. military had allegedly achieved all its objectives in the conflict against Iran in less than 40 days, while Tehran itself suffered significant losses during that time, which have impacted its ability to operate on the international stage. During hearings before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Cooper emphasized the significant weakening of Iran’s military capabilities and the reduced intensity of its potential attacks.
According to the admiral, Iran is no longer capable of conducting large-scale operations as it did before, and, as he claims, has lost a significant portion of its defense industrial base, which, in the view of the U.S. command, will complicate the restoration of its military capabilities in the coming years.
Separately, Cooper stated that the consequences of the conflict were also felt by Iran’s regional allies, notably Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Yemeni Houthis, who, he said, lost part of their logistical support and arms supplies.
In his remarks, he also thanked a number of Middle Eastern countries for their support of the U.S. during the conflict, naming the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Israel, and highlighting their role in ensuring security in the region.
At the same time, Cooper noted that, according to Washington’s assessment, some states in the region had not been active enough, though he did not name any specific countries.
Separately, the admiral noted that the U.S. also took into account Ukraine’s experience in countering massive drone attacks, emphasizing that the U.S. military had employed “a wide range of tactics, techniques, and procedures shared by Ukraine.”
In conclusion, he added that U.S. intelligence had already noted an increase in Iran’s missile capabilities at the end of last year, but now, according to him, previous assessments regarding the preservation of most of its weapons do not correspond to reality.
