British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has called on the union representing England’s junior doctors to reconsider the terms of the new pay deal.

The prime minister gave the doctors 48 hours to accept the proposal, warning of the catastrophic consequences of the planned protests for patients.
According to the British leader, the British Medical Association’s (BMA) decision to abandon a vote among its members is a destructive move.
“That is why rejecting this deal is the wrong decision. It is a rash decision,” Keir Starmer emphasized in his address to industry representatives.
The government has offered doctors a significant improvement in financial conditions, which would offset the country’s inflation rate.
Specifically, the package provides for a phased increase in salaries over three years of approximately 35%, as well as a fundamental reform of the system for calculating bonuses for professional experience.
The Prime Minister is outraged that union leadership has blocked rank-and-file doctors from deciding for themselves the fate of the agreement.
“And the fact that this is being done without even giving resident doctors the opportunity to vote on the matter makes the situation even worse,” the head of government added.
For their part, BMA representatives insist that the proposed measures are insufficient to compensate for the long-term decline in real incomes.
The union claims that over the past decade, the well-being of medical professionals has significantly deteriorated, and the critical staff shortage in the National Health Service is only getting worse.
As a reminder, Britain will begin intercepting tankers from Russia’s shadow fleet.
