Emergency food kits are now available in Belgium

In Belgium, a supermarket chain has begun selling emergency food kits for use in emergencies.

These kits are designed to meet basic food needs during crises or potential supply disruptions.

As noted, this is the chain’s response to customer demand and government recommendations. The basic kit contains 3,100 calories worth of food, including muesli, energy bars, nuts, two meals, a powdered drink, coffee, as well as chewing gum, napkins, a spoon, and a food-warming pouch.

“The kit is similar to the emergency pack previously distributed by the Red Cross. That one focused mainly on first aid, while we focus on food,” said a spokesperson for the chain.

The goal is for people to be able to provide themselves with everything they need for 24 hours.

The kit costs €29.99. They are currently available in some of the chain’s stores, and if demand is high, the company is considering making the kits available in all of its stores.
