Exorcist priest suspended after claims of a link between UFOs and demons — WP
The Archdiocese of Washington has removed Monsignor Stephen Rossetti from his position as official exorcist following his claims that many UFO sightings may be linked to demons.
The decision was made by Washington Archbishop Cardinal Robert McElroy. In addition, the Archdiocese has terminated its partnership with the St. Michael Spiritual Renewal Center, which Rosetti headed.
The reason was the priest’s remarks during a broadcast on the YouTube channel “Faith, Hope and Love Ministry,” dedicated to the topic “Aliens or Demons?” During the discussion, he stated that a significant portion of UFO reports may have a demonic origin.
According to Cardinal McElroy, such statements contradict the official teaching of the Catholic Church regarding the devil, demons, and the practice of exorcism.
Rozzetti himself stated that he was disappointed by the church leadership’s decision, but apologized if his words did not align with the Church’s position. He also emphasized the importance of remaining faithful to church doctrine.
Stephen Rossetti served as an exorcist for the Archdiocese of Washington for 19 years. Previously, he headed the St. Luke Institute, taught at The Catholic University, and served as chaplain for the Washington Nationals baseball team.
His removal came amid ongoing discussions in the U.S. regarding the nature of UFOs and other supernatural phenomena.

In 2001, the U.S. declassified documents regarding sightings of unidentified flying objects that had previously been classified as UFOs. Some of the materials indicate that some of these “unidentified objects” were actually Russian military aircraft operating near Georgian territory during operations in the region.
The Pentagon has released the first part of previously classified materials concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), which were previously often referred to as UFOs.
