Terrorist Anders Breivik has changed his name again — Aftenposten

Norwegian terrorist Anders Breivik has officially changed his name—he is now registered as Jan Johansen, one of the most common first-and-last-name combinations in Norway.

This was reported by Aftenposten.

The name change has already been entered into the national registry. According to statistics, at the end of 2025, 599 people bore the name Jan Johansen.

This is not Breivik’s first attempt to change his identity. Previously, he used the names Far Skaldigrimm Rauskold af Nortrik and Fjotolf Hansen.

His lawyer, Øystein Størvik, declined to comment on either the name change itself or the motives behind the decision.

Breivik became notorious as the perpetrator of one of the bloodiest terrorist attacks in Europe—on July 22, 2011, he killed 77 people during attacks in Oslo and on the island of Utøya.

In 2012, he was sentenced to the maximum penalty under Norwegian law—at least 21 years in prison. He remains in prison under solitary confinement.

Anders Breivik, the killer sentenced to 21 years in prison for the murder of 77 people in Norway in 2011, appeared in court with the letter “Z” shaved into his head. His request for parole is currently being considered by the court.
