Eight political parties
The overview included the Social Democratic Party, the Sweden Democrats, the Moderate Coalition Party, the Centre Party, the Left Party, the Christian Democrats, the Green Party and the Liberals. The Local Sweden calls the Social Democrats the country’s largest political force for more than a century, while noting a decline in their electoral support since the 1970s.
According to the publication, the Sweden Democrats increased their share of the vote in every parliamentary election after entering parliament in 2010. The party seeks to obtain ministerial posts in the Swedish government.

Coalition prospects
The Moderate Coalition Party has governed for the past four years with the support of the Sweden Democrats, which The Local Sweden characterizes as a far-right force. The publication also notes that the Centre Party may play a key role in post-election coalition negotiations.
Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar has repeatedly stated that she will demand ministerial posts for her party if the “red-green” forces win. The Christian Democrats emphasize support for the interests of Christians, the Green Party focuses on environmental and climate policy, and the Liberals position themselves as a party of individual freedom.
