Gulf News, one of the leading English-language publications in the Middle East, featured an article on Viktoria Rieva, a Ukrainian who has been living and working in the United Arab Emirates for over 14 years. In the article, journalists described her professional journey, the challenges she faced, and how she managed to build a successful career in two fields at once.
A Success Story
Viktoria moved to the UAE in 2012, where she initially worked in the hospitality industry in the emirate of Ras al-Khaimah. She later fulfilled her dream of becoming a flight attendant for flydubai, dedicating more than ten years to the aviation industry.
The COVID-19 pandemic marked a turning point. Due to the crisis in the aviation industry, the Ukrainian woman temporarily lost her job, but decided to use this period as a fresh start. She returned to graphic design, which she had studied in college, and founded her own creative studio, Saltborn Creative. Today, Victoria helps small and medium-sized businesses create brands, develop brand identities, and build effective visual communication.
In a comment to Gulf News, she noted that living in the multicultural environment of the UAE helped her learn to adapt quickly to change, build strong professional connections, and not be afraid to start from scratch. She also emphasized that even after returning to the aviation industry, she did not give up on her own business and continues to combine both professions.
According to Victoria, her story is an example of how it’s possible to radically change one’s life and fulfill one’s potential at any stage, as long as one isn’t afraid of new challenges and continues to grow.
