Trump announced a meeting with Lukashenko at a meeting of the Peace Council
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he plans to meet with Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, during the Peace Council meeting.
Trump wrote about this on Truth Social.
According to Trump, last week his special representative to Belarus, John Cole, secured the release of another 250 political prisoners following talks with Lukashenko. The total number of people released from custody since last May has exceeded 500.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Lukashenko for this and look forward to the next meeting of the Peace Council with him,” the U.S. president stated.
Recently, Belarus’s self-proclaimed president, Alexander Lukashenko, signed a “friendship and cooperation” agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a visit to Pyongyang. The document provides for the development of partnership relations and the strengthening of ties between the two countries.
