Trump named the key condition for a ceasefire with Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he had received a request from the new leader of the Iranian regime asking for a ceasefire.
The White House chief stated on the social media platform Truth Social that he is willing to consider such a possibility only on the condition that the Strait of Hormuz is fully opened for the free and safe passage of ships. Trump emphasized that military operations will continue until this demand is met, and pressure on Tehran will only intensify to protect global trade routes.
According to the American leader, Iran’s new leader is less radical than his predecessors, which creates room for diplomatic maneuvering. However, Trump warned that if Iran refuses to unblock this critically important sea route, the U.S. is prepared to take drastic measures to neutralize the threats. The Strait of Hormuz was blocked by Iran following the launch of a large-scale military operation by the U.S. and Israel, which triggered an energy crisis and a rise in global oil prices.
The situation in the region remains tense, as the blocked strait is the main route for transporting energy resources from the Persian Gulf. Until Tehran ensures freedom of navigation, Washington plans to continue strikes on enemy infrastructure. At the same time, Russia is attempting to use the conflict in the Middle East to divert attention from its aggression in Ukraine; however, Western leaders emphasize the importance of maintaining sanctions pressure on both fronts. Currently, the international community is awaiting Iran’s official response to the proposed terms of a ceasefire.
As a reminder, the IRGC announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and is threatening a “harsh response” to ships.
