Trump discusses fighting near Bab el-Mandeb with al-Alimi — Asharq Al-Awsat

US President Donald Trump discussed the escalation of fighting in the country during a telephone conversation with Rashad al-Alimi, chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council. According to Asharq Al-Awsat, one of the main topics was the situation near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, where Iran-backed Houthis are advancing. Fighting between Taiz and Lahj

Fighting intensified in the mountainous area between the western part of Taiz province and the north of Lahj province. Government and southern forces said they had halted the Houthis’ advance toward the Ash Shamayatayn district, repelled several attacks, and regained control of mountain positions.

Field sources claim that dozens of Houthi fighters have been killed over the past day. The government’s Giants Brigades said they destroyed five Houthi vehicles in the Kahbub Mountains near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. According to them, one vehicle was carrying a group commander and another anti-aircraft weapons; everyone in the other vehicles was killed.

Clashes in Taiz and Marib

The National Shield Forces said they shot down two drones during the fighting. In western Taiz, clashes continued in the areas of Sharira, Mount Al-Mirzam, and Jardada. There, government forces reported repelling Houthi infiltration attempts and attacks.

In Marib province, fighting and artillery shelling continued in the Harib, Malaa, and Umm Rish areas, while the line of control remained unchanged. Government forces said they struck Houthi concentrations, fortifications, and artillery positions. The publication also reports airstrikes and drone attacks in Marib and Al-Bayda.
