Trump announces creation of US Space Academy
US President Donald Trump announced the creation of the US Space Academy to train future military and civilian specialists in the space sector. He said this on Friday during a speech at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, NDTV World reports.
Training for military personnel and civilians
Trump signed an executive order establishing the new educational institution and said that the academy would be created following the model of the US Military Academy at West Point. According to him, it will serve the US Space Force, NASA, and the civilian space industry.
The president said the academy should attract, train, and graduate the country’s best specialists. At the same time, he did not specify where the new institution is planned to be located.

Trump also noted the important role of the US Space Force, the sixth branch of the US armed forces, in recent US military operations in Venezuela and Iran.
Race for the Moon
During the event, Trump awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the crew of NASA’s Artemis 2 mission, which flew past the Moon in April.
The United States is competing with China to land astronauts on the Moon by 2030. Last week, Trump promised a golden age of space and said he intended to increase rocket launches, including to the Moon and Mars.
