U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran is interested in reaching an agreement with the United States, but the proposed terms do not yet align with Washington’s position. The White House has also made it clear that tougher measures are possible should the negotiations fail.

This was reported with reference to Reuters.

Trump made the statement on Wednesday, May 27, during a cabinet meeting at the White House.

"Iran is very eager; they really want to make a deal. So far, they haven't achieved it... we're not happy with it, but we will be," the U.S. president told reporters.

At the same time, Trump hinted that if the talks fail, Washington may resort to other measures.

"Either we do this, or we’ll just have to wrap it up," he said.

The U.S. president did not specify which specific terms of the deal are currently causing dissatisfaction in the U.S.
