Trump displayed a map showing the new name for the Strait of Hormuz
U.S. President Donald Trump posted an image of a map on which the Strait of Hormuz is labeled by a different name. The post appeared without any explanation or caption. However, its content sparked widespread reaction and drew attention to the White House’s stance on the region. Trump once again found himself at the center of discussions due to his unusual geopolitical rhetoric.
On his own social media platform, Truth Social, he posted a map of the Middle East on which the strategically important Strait of Hormuz is labeled “Trump Strait.”
President Donald Trump had been considering renaming the Strait of Hormuz in his honor after taking full control of it. The American president decided not to wait and posted a new map on his page, where the strait is labeled “Trump Strait.”

This post was a logical follow-up to his speech in Miami. At that time, while discussing the situation with tankers and the Iranian threat, the American leader “accidentally” named the strait after himself.
“They must immediately open the Trump Strait. Oh, sorry, the Strait of Hormuz. What a terrible mistake! The fake news will write tomorrow that I misspoke. But you know, there are no accidents with me,” Trump commented ironically during his speech.
The very idea of renaming the strait was also actively discussed on social media among Trump’s supporters.
