Trump claims he received a call from Iran offering a deal

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the Iranian side initiated a phone call, expressing its readiness to sign a new agreement.

This was reported by Sky News. According to Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, along with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, did significant groundwork during negotiations last weekend, which initially seemed fruitless.

Tehran’s nuclear program remains the main stumbling block. The American leader emphasized that the U.S. has agreed to many conditions, but Iran has yet to agree to the main demand—a complete renunciation of nuclear weapons development. “Iran will not have nuclear weapons. I think they will eventually agree,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, commenting on diplomatic efforts amid the naval blockade he had announced.

The statement about a possible breakthrough came after the U.S. deployed more than 15 warships to block Iranian ports. Although European allies refused to join the coercive measures, Trump continues to pressure Tehran, combining military threats with the possibility of a major deal. At the same time, the U.S. and NATO continue to monitor the actions of Russia, which is attempting to use the Middle East crisis to intensify its aggression against Ukraine and hybrid attacks on the Baltic states.

As a reminder, the U.S. is undertaking mine clearance operations in the Strait of Hormuz.

Additionally, the United Kingdom plans to hold a new round of talks with allies regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, which remains a key route for global energy supplies. Representatives from dozens of countries will participate in the meeting, though the level of delegations will be lower than before.

Negotiations between the U.S. and Iran have begun to move forward. Tehran stated that Washington has allegedly agreed to unfreeze a portion of Iranian assets, but there is no official confirmation from the American side yet.

Iran is unable to quickly restore safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz due to the problem of minefields in the waterway and the lack of technical means to completely clear them.
