Trump called on Middle Eastern countries to join the Abraham Accords

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had approached a number of Middle Eastern countries with a proposal to join the “Abraham Accords.” According to him, these invitations were extended to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey. This refers to a possible expansion of the process of normalizing relations in the region within the framework of relevant international agreements.

This was reported by Reuters.

Trump noted that on Saturday he spoke with the leaders of these countries, as well as Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, which has already signed agreements to normalize relations with Israel.

“I strongly urge all countries to immediately sign the ‘Abraham Accords,’ and if Iran signs an agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it would be an honor for me if they also become part of this unprecedented global coalition,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

He recalled “all the work done by the United States to try to put this very complex puzzle together.”

Trump noted that it would be an honor for these countries to see Iran among the signatories once an agreement to end the war is reached.

He noted that one or two countries he has spoken with may have reasons not to join, but most of them should be “ready, willing, and able to make this deal with Iran a more historic event than it could otherwise be.”

Trump also noted that negotiations with Iran are “going well.”

The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain signed agreements during Trump’s first term in 2020, breaking a long-standing taboo and becoming the first Arab states in a quarter-century to recognize Israel. Morocco and Sudan later followed suit. Trump later repeatedly stated that he wanted to expand the “Abraham Accords.” In particular, he was optimistic about the prospects of Saudi Arabia finally joining the agreements after a ceasefire took effect in Gaza last year, but Riyadh showed no desire to move forward.

Egypt and Jordan have already established relations with Israel.
