This was reported by White House spokesperson Sebastian Gorka during the Pod Force One podcast, according to Fox News.
According to the official, a letter addressed to Vance is kept in a drawer of the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office, to be used in the event that something happens to the American leader.
“There is a letter in the drawer of the Resolute Desk addressed to the vice president in case something happens to him,” Gorka said.
The White House representative also commented on the issue of the U.S. president’s security and potential threats from foreign adversaries. He noted that the U.S. government has special protocols for the succession of state leadership that can be activated in critical situations.
“We have protocols, believe me. Not ones I can discuss, but protocols exist,” the official emphasized.
