Trump to meet with oil refiners amid high gasoline prices — The Hill
US President Donald Trump is expected to meet on Tuesday with representatives of oil refining companies and fuel distributors amid high gasoline prices in the country. As The Hill reports, the sides are expected to discuss opportunities to expand US oil refining capacity, which the White House sees as a way to lower gasoline prices.
Meeting participants
According to the outlet, small, medium-sized and large oil refining companies, as well as fuel distributors, are expected to take part in the meeting. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Director of Energy Dominance Jarrod Agen are also expected to attend.
Earlier, Trump repeatedly called on energy companies to lower prices to ease consumer costs. He accused energy firms of overcharging consumers and instructed the Justice Department to conduct an investigation.

Gasoline prices
According to the American Automobile Association AAA, the average price of a gallon of gasoline in the United States stood at about $4.08 on Monday. This is nearly 90 cents higher than during the same period last year.
Prices have remained elevated since the start of the year after the conflict between the United States and Iran disrupted global supplies. Reuters reported that ExxonMobil, the third-largest oil refining company in the United States, was not invited to the meeting. The White House did not release a list of participants, and an Exxon spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Earlier this year, Trump criticized Exxon after the company’s chief executive said that Venezuela is currently unattractive for investment.
