Trump will build a 70-story Trump Tower skyscraper in Tbilisi

Plans are underway in the Georgian capital to build the tallest skyscraper in the Caucasus, which will be named after U.S. President Donald Trump; however, individuals subject to U.S. sanctions have been found to be involved in the construction process. The centerpiece of the new large-scale architectural complex, The Tbilisi Downtown, will be the 70-story Trump Tower, which will consist of a total of six high-rise buildings.

This was reported by Domus. The new large-scale complex is planned to be built on the site of the former city racetrack.

The renowned international architectural firm Gensler is handling the design of the future skyscraper, while the actual construction will be carried out by the Georgian developer Archi Group, which is owned by a former member of parliament from the ruling Georgian Dream political party. According to available data from law enforcement agencies, the land plot on which the tower is to be built indirectly belongs to the party’s founder and pro-Russian oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili. In late 2024, the official administration of U.S. President Joe Biden imposed personal sanctions on Ivanishvili for his active pro-Russian activities.

Donald Trump had been harboring similar plans for a large-scale skyscraper construction project in Georgia since 2012, when he personally visited the country and met with then-President Mikheil Saakashvili to discuss the construction of a 47-story building in the resort city of Batumi. That previous project was ultimately canceled entirely in 2017, when Trump officially took office as U.S. president for the first time.

The sources of funding for the construction of the Trump Toronto tower have been identified. Russian and Ukrainian connections have been found in the case.
