Transavia is cutting back on flights in Europe due to rising fuel costs

Transavia is cutting back on flights in Europe due to rising fuel costs

The Dutch airline Transavia is canceling some of its flights in May and June. The company cites a sharp rise in jet fuel prices, which it attributes to the escalating situation in the Middle East.

This information is reported with reference to the company’s website.

This applies only to the carrier’s French division. Transavia flights from the Netherlands will continue to operate as scheduled.

According to the company, the cancellations will affect about 2% of the total flight schedule. Passengers affected by the changes will be offered free rebooking, a voucher, or a full refund for their tickets.

French media previously reported that the reduction in the flight schedule will continue over the next two months. Despite being part of the Air France-KLM group, Transavia’s French and Dutch divisions operate separately.

Earlier this month, the company stated that it did not plan to cancel flights due to rising fuel costs. At the same time, KLM has already announced reductions in certain flights, particularly to London and Düsseldorf.

Amid rising fuel costs, Transavia has already raised ticket prices by an average of about 10 euros per round-trip flight. Other airlines are taking similar steps.

European flightsare being cut as a result of the ongoing cuts in the aviation industry.

Additionally, the Latvian Parliament has approved a short-term loan for the national airline Air Baltic to help it overcome financial difficulties caused by rising fuel prices due to the conflict in the Middle East.
