Turkey refused to allow a ship carrying stolen Ukrainian grain to unload
The Panormitis, a ship carrying Ukrainian grain seized by Russia from the temporarily occupied territories, was denied permission to unload at the Turkish port of Iskenderun.
This was reported by Israel Hayom.
Earlier, on April 30, the same ship was denied permission to unload at the Israeli port of Haifa after the origin of the cargo became known. After that, the Panormitis set sail for Turkey.
According to the publication, the issue of the Russian “shadow fleet,” which is used to transport grain from the occupied Ukrainian territories, was discussed during Ukrainian-Turkish political consultations last week.
Following high-level contacts between Kyiv and Ankara, the ship was also denied permission to unload in Turkey, after which it left the country’s territorial waters.
The article notes that the Ukrainian side is continuing consultations with Israeli businesses to prevent grain trade from Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories.
Prior to this, the Asomatos delivered 26,900 tons of wheat to the port of Abu Qir, which, according to Ukraine, had been illegally exported by Russia. Kyiv appealed to the Egyptian authorities regarding yet another instance of such grain shipments.
Russia continues to export Ukrainian grain from the temporarily occupied territories and sell it abroad. In late April, Ukraine recorded several such shipments to Egypt.
