Turkey has called on the UN to step up its efforts in the Middle East
Turkey has appealed to the international community, particularly the UN, to assume greater responsibility for upholding international law in the Middle East. Ankara emphasized the need to prevent an increase in violations and ensure the effective application of international norms in the region.
This was reported today at a press briefing by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
"We call on the international community, first and foremost the United Nations, to take responsibility for preventing an increase in violations in the region and ensuring the effective application of international law," the Ministry of Defense emphasized.
They also underscored Turkey’s unwavering stance regarding the escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
"Turkey firmly maintains the position that all parties must exercise restraint, and conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy based on international law," the Turkish Ministry of Defense stated.
Among the examples of violations of international law cited were Israel’s attacks on Lebanon’s civilian infrastructure and its violations of sovereignty and territorial integrity in southern Syria.
The attack on the Altura tanker carrying Russian oil was deliberate, according to Turkey.
An attack occurred in the Black Sea on the Turkish tanker Altura, which was transporting crude oil from the territory of the Russian Federation.
