Turkey has offered Japan mass production of drones

Ankara has officially confirmed its readiness to significantly deepen bilateral cooperation with Tokyo in the defense industry. A key focus of the partnership is the joint development of cutting-edge unmanned technologies and counter-drone measures. 

This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in an interview with the well-known Japanese publication Nikkei Asia, TRT Haber reports.

The head of Turkish diplomacy emphasized that his country’s defense industry currently possesses advanced and, most importantly, battle-tested technologies. According to him, the high effectiveness of Turkish unmanned systems in various operational scenarios can serve as a solid foundation for implementing large-scale joint projects with Japan. Fidan noted separately that such unmanned aerial vehicles are capable of significantly enhancing security in the areas of coastal and border protection for both countries.

In addition to strengthening military-technical ties, the foreign minister highlighted positive momentum in negotiations toward a strategic social security agreement between the countries. He also emphasized the significant untapped potential for cooperation in civilian high-tech sectors. Among the promising areas for the development of bilateral relations, Hakan Fidan highlighted joint investments in the energy sector, mineral extraction, the digital transformation of the economy, space programs, industrial robotics, and the creation of the most resilient global supply chains.

Turkey demonstrated a new domestically produced munition, the TOLUN, designed to engage fortified and hard-to-reach targets. During testing, it penetrated a concrete shelter and destroyed the target inside.

Baykar plans to deliver the first two Kizilelma unmanned fighter jets to the Turkish Armed Forces as early as the first quarter of this year.
