Turkey has asked Interpol to arrest Netanyahu

Turkey has submitted a request to Interpol to issue a “red notice” for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The request is related to criminal proceedings in Istanbul concerning an incident involving activists from the Global Sumud flotilla, which was en route to Gaza with humanitarian aid.

On July 14, a Turkish court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Israeli Navy Commander Afek Moskovich. They are accused, among other things, of genocide, crimes against humanity, torture, and unlawful deprivation of liberty.

There are 35 defendants in the case. The Turkish Ministry of Justice has forwarded the documents to the country’s Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the purpose of submitting a request to Interpol.

Justice Minister Akin Gurlek stated that Turkey will use all available national and international legal mechanisms to prosecute those involved in the crimes in Gaza.

Earlier, Netanyahu announced Israel’s rejection of Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to reject the 15-point peace plan for Gaza has raised concerns among U.S. diplomats and U.S. allies. According to Politico, this stance could weaken Washington’s influence on the future course of the conflict.
