Tusk calls on Ukraine to take responsibility for the crisis in relations
The Ukrainian government must take responsibility for the crisis in Polish-Ukrainian relations and take steps to satisfy the Polish side.
This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald
The Polish prime minister emphasized that his efforts on several levels have yielded some results, and now the Ukrainian side realizes that “the ball is in its court.” The escalation was triggered by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s decision to assign a specific name to one of the military units. Tusk noted that while he does not consider this move a deliberate blow against Poland, he accuses the Ukrainian leadership of a lack of historical sensitivity, political empathy, and rational thinking regarding shared interests.
To prevent an escalation, Donald Tusk held talks with President Karol Nawrocki to give Ukraine time and space to reverse this move or soften it. The head of the Polish government concluded that complex neighborly relations must be based on historical truth and mutual respect, adding that Kyiv’s initial steps to resolve this serious issue are currently insufficient.
