A commuter train derailed in the Belgorod Region due to a missing section of track

A train accident involving an electric train traveling on the "Razumnoe–Tomarovka" route occurred in the Yakovlevsky District of the Belgorod Region.

The incident was caused by a two-meter gap in the track, which caused some of the cars to derail.

The region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, officially confirmed the accident and noted that the train operator had attempted to prevent the disaster.

Despite applying the emergency brakes, the train was unable to stop in time, resulting in half of the car derailing. At the time of the incident, there were 15 passengers on board, some of whom were injured.

One woman required medical attention after sustaining a laceration to her leg and soft tissue contusions to her back.

The victim was hospitalized at a local hospital; her condition is currently being assessed by specialists, while the other passengers were assisted in reaching their destinations.
