The White House advised Vance to take a break from social media — NYT
Susan Wiles, Chief of Staff to U.S. President Donald Trump, advised Vice President J.D. Vance to temporarily suspend his active use of social media.
This was reported by the authoritative publication The New York Times.
The reason for this recommendation was that the politician engages in overly heated arguments with his opponents and critics on online platforms.
A lengthy article dedicated to J.D. Vance’s future presidential prospects notes that during official meetings, the vice president frequently scrolls through his phone feed.
He regularly uses social media to personally engage in discussions and arguments with critics of his actions.
U.S. President Donald Trump himself is also an active user of social media platforms and regularly posts on Truth Social.
However, unlike his colleague, the American leader does not spend time on direct replies and arguments with other users online.
“Susie Wiles, Trump’s chief of staff, recently advised Vance to take a break from social media, as other officials in the West Wing have done, according to people familiar with these interactions, since the arguments are considered unbecoming of his office,” the publication states.
Recently, the U.S. Vice President officially confirmed that he had indeed temporarily deleted the X social media app from his mobile phone for the duration of Lent. The politician added that he has not yet reinstalled the app.
In an interview with NBC News published on May 26, J.D. Vance candidly shared that his extended break from the X platform had been beneficial for him.
“This is one of those things where the absence of that distraction, I think, has made me much more productive,” he said.
