In Britain, a 4,500-year-old hall near Stonehenge is being reconstructed

In the UK, volunteers from the English Heritage charity are restoring a Neolithic hall dating back some 4,500 years, located a few kilometers from Stonehenge.

This is reported by The Independent.

The seven-meter-long structure is being reconstructed based on archaeological findings from a significant prehistoric building discovered 3.2 km from the famous stone circle.

For the restoration, volunteers are using historically authentic construction methods and local materials. The project costs £1 million, and the work is nearing completion.

The first visitors will be able to see the reconstructed hall as early as this summer. In the fall, it is planned to be used as an educational center where schoolchildren can learn more about the daily life of people in the Neolithic era.

Researchers still do not have a definitive answer as to what the original structure near the Darlington Walls settlement was used for. Archaeologists have discovered thousands of animal bones and a significant amount of pottery there, which may indicate that rituals, celebrations, or funeral rites took place there.

We previously reported that the recent discovery of two skeletons mutilated in the same manner suggests that limb amputation was used as a punishment during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty in China, over 2,000 years ago.

We also recall that during excavations in the ancient city of Laodicea in the Turkish province of Denizli, which is included on UNESCO’s tentative list of World Heritage Sites, a statue of Asclepius, the god of medicine in Greek and Roman mythology, and the head of a statue of his daughter Hygieia were discovered.
