The Czech Republic Wants to Strip Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Lion
The Czech right-wing populist party SPD has stated that it will seek to strip Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Czech Republic’s highest state honor—the Order of the White Lion.
The party cited as the reason the decision to name one of the Special Operations Forces (SSO) units in honor of the “heroes of the UPA.” The SPD plans to raise this issue during coalition negotiations and initiate an appeal to Czech President Petr Pavel.
At the same time, Czech law allows for the revocation of a state award only by court order if a person is convicted of a serious intentional crime. The SPD’s initiative has already been criticized by representatives of other Czech political parties.

The decision to revoke the Order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest state honor, from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a unilateral act by the president. Under Polish procedure, the president may initiate the revocation of an award, but the relevant act requires the countersignature (co-signature) of the Polish prime minister.
In response to the Polish president’s actions, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that he would return his state award to Poland.
