Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s Social Democratic Party is considered the favorite after taking a stand against U.S. President Donald Trump in the dispute over Greenland.
It is noted that the international conflict did not become a central theme of the campaign. The main focus was on issues such as the cost of living, immigration, and the environment. Recent polls show that the center-left bloc has a slight lead over the right-wing forces, but neither side can secure a majority in the 179-seat parliament.
“The future composition of the coalition government is unknown, but it is quite likely that we will ultimately see Frederiksen as prime minister. People may not like her very much, but they consider her the right leader,” noted Elisabeth Svan, a political analyst for the newspaper Politiken.
As a reminder, on Sunday, March 22, 2026, Slovenia held critically important parliamentary elections, the results of which will determine the country’s direction for the next four years.
