Denmark has called for Spain to be suspended from the Schengen Agreement due to the migration crisis
The far-right Danish People's Party has called on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to support, at the EU level, the suspension of the Schengen Agreement for Spain due to the escalating migration crisis in the Spanish city of Ceuta. If she refuses, the party has threatened to call for an extraordinary session of parliament.
Party leader Morten Messerschmidt stated that the migration crisis in Ceuta poses a threat to all of Europe. He also accused the Spanish government of legalizing more than one million undocumented migrants who, he said, can move freely throughout the Schengen Area.
The Danish Democrats party also joined the call, advocating for a review of the rules governing border crossings with Spain. At the same time, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that the EU must consider all possible measures in response, including a temporary suspension of the Schengen Agreement for Spain.
Frederiksen emphasized that uncontrolled migration poses a threat to Europe, and that the EU’s external borders must be securely protected. She also reported that she has already discussed the situation with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and plans to convene a meeting of European leaders to coordinate further actions.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the European Union will provide Spain with additional support in response to the migration crisis in the enclave of Ceuta, where tens of thousands of migrants have illegally entered from Morocco.
Earlier, the Spanish city of Ceuta declared a state of emergency due to the influx of migrants.
