At least five people killed in Yemen and Saudi Arabia — Channel NewsAsia
At least five people were killed on September 17 during strikes for which the parties to the conflict blame Yemen’s Houthis, Yemen’s internationally recognized government and Saudi Arabia. Channel NewsAsia reports, citing AFP.
Reports of casualties in Yemen
Almasirah, a Houthi-controlled television channel, said Saudi military aircraft attacked three telecommunications towers in Taiz province. According to the channel, a civilian was killed and another person was injured in strikes on the city of Abs.
Almasirah later reported that three children were killed and several Yemeni citizens were injured as a result of strikes by forces linked to Saudi Arabia. The Houthis refer to these forces as “mercenaries,” meaning Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

Drone debris near Mecca
Saudi civil defense said that in Taif governorate, east of Mecca, debris from a downed Houthi drone caused the death of one person, injured two others, and damaged buildings and vehicles. The deceased was a Yemeni citizen.
According to the Saudi service, this is the first reported death in Saudi Arabia since the recent escalation in hostilities began. A day earlier, Riyadh accused the Houthis of an attack on Mecca, calling it “cowardly,” but the Houthis denied this. According to the UN, more than 100,000 people have been forced to leave their homes because of the conflict in Yemen.
