Astronautics Congress in Antalya receives record 8,330 abstracts — Anadolu Agency
The 77th International Astronautical Congress, to be held on October 5–9, 2026, in Antalya, Türkiye, has received a record 8,330 scientific paper abstracts from 108 countries. This is the highest figure in the congress’s history, Anadolu Agency reports.
Record number of submissions
The number of abstracts exceeded the results of previous forums: the 2024 congress in Milan received about 7,000 abstracts, while the 2025 event in Sydney received 6,400. Researchers from Türkiye submitted 1,810 abstracts, the highest number from a single country in the history of the International Astronautical Congress.
Following evaluation, organizers accepted 4,077 papers and placed another 542 on the waiting list. More than 4,000 presentations are planned as part of the congress across more than 180 technical sessions. Turkish researchers will also have the largest number of accepted papers, with 674.

Expected participants and organizers
The congress will take place at the NEST Convention Center in Antalya. More than 10,000 participants from over 100 countries are expected to attend. The event has already received more than 3,000 pre-registrations from 83 countries, which organizers say is an early-registration record.
The International Astronautical Congress is organized annually by the International Astronautical Federation. Türkiye’s Ministry of Industry and Technology will coordinate the event, the Turkish Space Agency will serve as the host organization, and the SAHA Istanbul cluster will be a co-organizer. The congress mascot will be a sea turtle named Turquoise.
