China’s Pinglu Canal officially began operations on Wednesday, September 16. On the first day, Nanning Customs monitored 1,679.8 tonnes of import and export cargo, ECNS reports.
Preparations for vessel clearance
To ensure efficient customs clearance for vessels carrying foreign trade cargo, Nanning Customs prepared detailed plans and conducted drills covering all stages of the process. The agency also provided advance guidance on submitting declarations to more than 50 key companies in the foreign trade and logistics sectors.

Multimodal transportation
Customs supports trials of multimodal transportation using rail, sea and inland waterway transport. This is expected to provide additional opportunities for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a major logistics network connecting China’s western regions with global markets.
Further coordination
Nanning Customs said it will continue cooperation with other customs authorities, ports and shipping companies along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. The purpose of this interaction is to ensure uninterrupted foreign trade logistics through the Pinglu Canal.
