In Yemen, government forces reported hitting Houthi fighters and equipment in the central province of Al-Bayda, as well as downing a drone belonging to the group near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in the southwest of Taiz province.

Statement on strike in Al-Bayda

Military spokesperson Majed al-Nazili said that government troops struck Houthi personnel and equipment in Al-Bayda. He also released a video that, according to him, captured the moment the group’s positions were hit. The spokesperson provided no further details.

The operation was reported by Anadolu Agency. There were no immediate comments from the Houthis regarding these claims.

Drone over the Kahbub front

Separately, the government-loyal Nation Shield Forces said that the 1st Brigade downed a Houthi drone while it was flying over the Kahbub front near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The unit shared footage which it said showed the wreckage of the downed aircraft.

Clashes between government forces and the Houthis continued in recent hours on several sections of the front in Taiz province, though neither side reported territorial gains. At the same time, relative calm persisted in the provinces of Marib and Al-Jawf, according to an Anadolu correspondent, with no reports of major fighting.

Fighting also resumed in Taiz, Marib, Al-Jawf, Al-Bayda and Lahij. According to Anadolu, this is the most serious escalation since the UN-mediated truce concluded in April 2022. In September, the Houthis captured several important positions in the provinces of Al-Hudaydah and Taiz, including the strategic city of Mocha and Perim Island in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
