The European Commission has confirmed Ukraine's right to defend itself against Lukashenko

The European Commission affirmed Ukraine’s full right to self-defense in response to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s ultimatum to the Belarusian authorities. Officials in Brussels emphasized that the Republic of Belarus continues to be an accomplice to Russian military aggression by providing its territory and infrastructure for strikes against Ukrainian cities.

This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper. The EC representative noted that Alexander Lukashenko’s regime regularly engages in provocations against the European community, including deliberate violations of EU countries’ airspace and the use of an artificial migration crisis as a tool for political pressure.

For this reason, the European Union has already imposed strict sanctions against Minsk and remains prepared to expand them. Commenting on Kyiv’s direct demands to dismantle the communication towers, Hipper concluded: “Of course, Ukraine has the right to defend itself.”

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly issued an ultimatum to the Belarusian dictator, giving him exactly one week to shut down and dismantle Russian and Belarusian relay stations located in border regions. According to the Ukrainian side, this equipment directly guides the flights of Iranian and Russian strike drones, resulting in daily civilian casualties in Ukraine. The head of state issued a clear warning: if Minsk does not remove the drone support equipment on its own, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will destroy these facilities using their own forces.

This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Anitta Hipper during a briefing.

Zelenskyy gave Lukashenko one week to dismantle the Russian relay stations.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and self-proclaimed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will meet in the near future to discuss Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statements regarding Russian relay stations near the Ukrainian-Belarusian border.
