Finnish court acquits Mika Moring in Saara Arva death case
The Northern Savonia District Court in Finland has acquitted Mika Moring of all charges in the case concerning the death of Saara Arva. According to YLE News, the man was charged with Arva’s murder and aggravated unlawful deprivation of liberty.
Court ruling
Moring denied all charges. Prosecutors sought to have him found guilty of murder and aggravated unlawful deprivation of liberty, but the court issued an acquittal.
Police spent several years investigating Arva’s disappearance and suspected murder. According to the police, Moring was the only suspect in the case.

Arva’s disappearance
Helsinki resident Saara Arva had been missing for nearly five years. In April 2024, an ice fisherman found her remains on a remote cape in Vesanto. Arva was 35 years old at the time of her death.
Police also suspect Moring of the murder of 28-year-old Katja Miinalainen, who disappeared in August 2022 in southwestern Finland. The pre-trial investigation in this case is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are searching for her remains in Muonio.
