Frankfurt officials have assured that Europe will have enough jet fuel for the summer season

Stefan Schulte, the head of Frankfurt Airport, stated that Europe will not face a shortage of aviation fuel during the summer tourist season, despite concerns over the war in the Middle East and risks to the Strait of Hormuz.

This was reported by dpa.

According to Schulte, jet fuel supplies in Europe, particularly in Germany, will remain stable for at least the coming months, and under favorable conditions—until the end of the year.

He also emphasized that even in the event of local disruptions, passengers will not be stranded abroad, as airlines will be able to either rebook flights or issue refunds. Concerns about a potential shortage arose due to the threat of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, through which more than a quarter of Europe’s aviation fuel is transported in peacetime.

The biggest problem for the German armed forces remains a shortage of personnel, and if the voluntary system fails, the country will have to return to mandatory conscription.

German airports are warning that mass flight cancellations are possible this summer due to a sharp rise in jet fuel prices. They cite the consequences of the war in Iran, which has affected global kerosene prices, as the cause.
