The Ukrainians were joined by French rescue workers, local residents, and firefighters from the island of Tahiti.

Despite being on an international mission to combat large-scale wildfires in France, the Ukrainian rescue workers did not break with this tradition.
Local residents, French rescue workers, and firefighters from the island of Tahiti joined in the minute of silence.
As a sign of solidarity, they performed a song by Tahitian volunteers who went to fight for Free France during World War II.
Upon witnessing the Ukrainian tradition of honoring the fallen, the firefighters dedicated their performance of this song to Ukrainian soldiers and all victims of war, thereby expressing their support for Ukraine and its people.
As a reminder, Ukrainian State Emergency Service specialists have joined the fight against large-scale wildfires in France and have already received their first assignments. Rescuers are working alongside their French colleagues to protect critical infrastructure and young forest stands from the flames.
