In Hamburg, a wolf was released back into the wild after attacking a woman

A wolf that had been captured after attacking a woman in Hamburg has been released back into the wild in Germany.

DW reports this.

The animal was held at a wildlife rescue center in Lower Saxony, after which a special transmitter was attached and it was released into the wild.

Authorities noted that the decision allows for a balance between human safety and animal protection. The wolf’s location will now be constantly monitored, and hunters will be able to intervene if it approaches populated areas.

The incident occurred in late March: the wolf entered a shopping arcade in Altona, where it injured a woman, after which it was captured by law enforcement.

In the center of Hamburg, Germany, police captured a wolf that had previously attacked a woman and bitten her in the face.

In Finland last year, a record number of reindeer deaths was recorded—more than 2,100 animals fell victim to wolf attacks. Local reindeer herders believe that the sharp increase in the predator population is linked to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
