Ghana to mark National Professional Development Day for educators on September 25

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared Friday, September 25, as National Continuous Professional Development Day for education workers. The initiative is intended to promote the ongoing professional development of educational staff.

Theme of the day

As MyJoyOnline reports, the events will be held under the theme of assessment in the age of artificial intelligence and empowering teachers to assess learning. GES issued a press release on the initiative on Tuesday, September 15.

The service said that National Professional Development Day is part of broader efforts to strengthen the professional capacity of teachers and other education-sector workers. The initiative is also linked to responding to new trends, including the use of artificial intelligence in teaching and assessment.

Instructions for education authorities

GES asked directors of education authorities in metropolitan, municipal and district areas, regional education unit managers, and school heads to disseminate the information and coordinate the necessary activities within their areas of responsibility.

The service also called on education managers and workers to fully participate in the professional development activities. GES stressed that cooperation between education managers and staff is necessary for the effective implementation of the program and the achievement of its goal.
