In Ghana, leaders of artisan groups trained in fire safety — MyJoyOnline
In Techiman, Ghana, the Bono East Regional Fire Command held a meeting with leaders of artisan groups and master artisans. The event, held on September 8, 2026, was attended by 55 leaders of various professional associations in the municipality who train apprentices, MyJoyOnline reports.
Fire prevention
The meeting aimed to provide representatives of artisan communities with fire safety knowledge to prevent hazards at workplaces. Bono East Regional Fire Commander ACFO I Rev. Naomi Ofori-Adubea Sarpong explained the service’s main powers as defined by Act 537 of 1997.
According to Sarpong, the event was part of the service’s fire prevention work. She noted that successful prevention should significantly reduce the need for firefighting. The commander also said that the fire safety education team would continue awareness work with master artisans and apprentices.

Participants’ questions
During the interactive session, participants asked questions about safety rules related to their professions. Representatives of the artisan groups thanked the commander for the initiative, calling it their first such direct conversation with the fire service.
Participants also asked for the program to be made regular, stressing its importance for their daily work and the safety of apprentices.
